This is an original 1927 monochrome in-text lithograph of the high mountain pass named Col du Lautaret in the Hautes-Alpes in France.

This piece was illustrated by Oakley, Thornton.

Thornton Oakley

(1881-1953) Thornton Oakley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in architecture. He also studied illustration with Howard Pyle. He was best known for his depiction of industrial subjects. OakleyÕs work appeared in numerous books and magazines, including Harper's, The Century, Collier's, and Everybody's Magazine. His paintings are in the collections of many museums.
